Onda Sonora: Red Hot + Lisbon

Onda Sonora: Red Hot + Lisbon is a musical journey across oceans and time, exploring the transformation of Portuguese music and the cultures it forever changed. The album and related television special set out to re-navigate the far reaching routes of the Portuguese sea travel, and to reconnect the musical and cultural threads that resulted from their explorations.

It's Your Life, Babe

Onda Sonora, which literally means Sound Wave, creates a synthesis that fuses together elements from various cultures, featuring 40 artists from 11 countries singing in seven different languages. Yet underlying the diverse origins and styles is a common connection beyond the Porgtuguese culture that influenced them; woven through the album is an underlying theme of love and longing - a truly universal message.

Like many epidemics before it, AIDS has also spread along major trade and travel routes. And it is the unchecked spread of this epidemic that has brought together many of the biggest stars from their respective cultures. We are proud to announce that a donation of $100,000 was made in honor of Onda Sonora by the insurance company, Imperio Seguradora. This complements over half a million dollars raised by Red Hot + Rio, allowing Red Hot to play an important role in helping to raise AIDS awareness in the Portuguese speaking world and other places where such information is desparately needed.

Album available in North America on Bar/None.
Available in Europe on Movieplay Portuguesa.
Available in Brasil on Trama.
